Where does cardiac excitation begin?

Cardiac excitation begins in the Sinoatrial Node (SA node). The actual conduction of the heart has very little to do with excitation from the brain. The heart has instrinsic rythmicity which means its beat is attributed to itself. Nervous system function can effect heart rate through use of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems but the actual stimulation starts in the heart and ends in the heart
