Does anyone have information on why Thomas Jefferson was chosen to write the Declaration of Independence?

Thomas Jefferson wasn't really chosen, it was an honor. He was a very eloquent reader, speaker, and writer and he was very intelligent. Plus he was a very strong believer in the "American Cause"
