How loud can I legally be in a shared house in UK?

I am a student living in a 1 storey house, on the 1st floor. Bellow me - on the ground floor lives the landlord. I currently decided to start exercising and therefore in the middle of the day, every day for one hour as i exercise i might occasionaly have to jump a little bit (because of the exercise program). The landlord complained to me and I became very frustrated as i really want to get into shape, and i just cant afford to go to the gym nor do i have any other place to exercise besides my room. When i dont exercise i am extremely quite. Are there any laws protecting my interest? What should i do?
